Membership cancellation policy
Effective date: [INSERT DATE]
1. Your membership
Our membership costs £25 per month.
Membership provides access to our online library of pre-recorded tutoring and educational content, together with access to our scheduled live Q&A sessions, currently held every Monday at 5:00pm UK time.
Your membership automatically renews each month at £25 unless you cancel it. There is no minimum membership period.
2. Cancelling your membership
You can cancel your membership at any time. Cancellation is free and you do not need to give us a reason.
You can cancel:
- through your membership account using the cancellation option provided; or
- by contacting us at liam@upgradeeconomics.co.uk.
We will not make cancellation unnecessarily difficult or require you to contact us by telephone if an online cancellation facility is available.
If you cancel, your membership will normally remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for. You will not be charged for a further monthly period after your cancellation has taken effect.
3. Your 14-day cooling-off period
If you are a consumer purchasing our membership online, you generally have a statutory 14-day cancellation period beginning when you enter into the contract. You can exercise this right without giving a reason.
Important information about immediate access to our content
Because our membership provides immediate access to pre-recorded digital content, we may ask you during sign-up to expressly request that the digital content is made available to you immediately.
Where required by law, we will also ask you to acknowledge that, by requesting immediate access to the digital content, you may lose your statutory right to cancel in respect of that digital content once the relevant legal conditions have been satisfied.
If you do not provide the required consent or acknowledgement, we may delay providing the relevant digital content until the applicable cancellation period has ended.
The availability of our Monday live Q&A sessions during the 14-day period may also constitute the supply of a service. If you expressly request that the service begins during the 14-day cancellation period and subsequently cancel, we may be entitled to charge a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to the time you tell us that you wish to cancel, where permitted by law.
Nothing in this policy limits any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
4. Cancelling after the 14-day period
After the applicable 14-day cancellation period, you can still cancel your membership at any time. Your cancellation will normally take effect at the end of your current paid monthly membership period.
For example, if your membership renews on the 10th of each month and you cancel on the 20th, you will normally retain access until the end of that paid period and will not be charged again on the following renewal date.
We do not charge a cancellation fee.
5. Refunds
Cancelling your membership does not normally result in a refund of the current monthly payment simply because you choose to stop using the membership.
However, this does not affect any statutory right you may have to a refund, including rights arising from exercising a statutory cancellation right or where we have failed to provide the service in accordance with your legal rights.
Where you are legally entitled to a refund, we will process it in accordance with applicable consumer law. Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original payment unless otherwise agreed.
6. If you cancel during a live Q&A period
If you cancel your membership, your access to the membership and live Q&A sessions will continue until your cancellation takes effect, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
If you have exercised a statutory cancellation right during the applicable cooling-off period, different rules may apply to services already supplied.
7. Changes to the membership
We may occasionally make reasonable changes to the content, structure or scheduling of the membership. For example, we may update, replace or reorganise pre-recorded lessons or change the time or format of a live Q&A session where reasonably necessary.
We will communicate significant changes where appropriate, and we will not use changes to the service to unfairly deprive you of the service you originally agreed to purchase.
If we make a significant change that means we are no longer providing the service substantially as agreed, you may have additional legal rights, including potentially a right to end the contract and obtain an appropriate refund.
8. If we are unable to provide the service
If we are unable to provide the membership for a significant period, including where we permanently discontinue the membership, we will notify affected members.
Where you have paid for services that we do not provide and you are legally entitled to a refund, we will provide an appropriate refund.
9. Failed payments
If a monthly payment fails, we may contact you and ask you to update your payment details. We may suspend access to the membership while a payment remains outstanding.
We will not impose unreasonable or disproportionate cancellation or payment charges.
10. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer. In particular, nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or restrict rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted under UK consumer law.
Our membership terms are intended to be fair and transparent and will be interpreted in accordance with applicable UK law.
